Hydrangea is the most forgiving faux flower
The head is a mass of tiny florets rather than a few large petals, so the eye reads volume and colour instead of examining individual petals. It is the easiest flower to get right in silk, which is why it is the one to start with.
Seven is a full jug
A hydrangea head is wide, so it takes fewer stems than you would think. Seven fills a decent jug or splits across three small vessels around a room.
Bendable stems, trimmable
Wire cores hold whatever angle you set. Cut them down with wire cutters for a low bowl or leave them full length for a tall jug.
The one that survives a bright window
Real hydrangea wilts within hours out of water and browns at the edges in sun. This sits on a sunny sill indefinitely, which is where most people want flowers and where real ones last least.
