Our Story

Most people cannot keep a plant alive, and almost none of them are at fault.

A north-facing flat gets a fraction of the light a plant needs. A rented bathroom has no window at all. A hallway console sits three metres from the nearest daylight. You can buy the right pot, water it on a schedule and read every care card going, and the orchid still dies, because the room was never going to work. Then the industry sells you another one.

We started The Small Plot for the rooms, not the plants. Corners that get no light. Shelves too high to water. Desks, bathrooms, hallways, rented flats where drilling a plant hook is not an option. The places people want greenery most and can sustain it least.

That shapes what we stock, and it is why the details matter more here than in most faux ranges. Orchids come with leaves and aerial roots, because those are what make the plant read as real and most sellers leave them out. Tulip petals are real-touch coated, because a tulip petal is thick and waxy and thin silk gives it away instantly. Stems have wire cores, because real flowers lean and stiff ones announce themselves. Our silk flowers are dyed in muted, desaturated tones, because real blooms are never the flat bright colour a printer produces.

None of this is about fooling anyone. It is about a room feeling alive without a fortnightly funeral.

We are a small operation and we answer our own email. If something arrives crushed in transit, which stems occasionally do, send a photo and we replace it without asking you to post it back to Wyoming. If you are not sure whether a piece suits your space, write and describe the room. We would rather talk you out of the wrong thing than process a return.
