This policy explains what The Small Plot collects, why, and what you can do about it. Plain language, no filler.
Who we are
The Small Plot is a brand of Scale Media LLC, 1621 Central Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001, United States. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at support@thesmallplot.com.
What we collect
- Order information. Name, shipping and billing address, email, phone, and what you bought.
- Payment information. Handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation and the last four digits of the card. We never see or store your full card number.
- Account information if you create an account: email, password hash, order history, saved addresses.
- Marketing information if you subscribe: email address and engagement with our emails.
- Technical information. IP address, browser, device, pages viewed, referring site. Collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Why we use it
- To take payment, ship your order, and deal with returns and support. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To detect and prevent fraud, and to keep the store secure. This is our legitimate interest.
- To send marketing email, where you have opted in. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- To understand how the store is used so we can improve it.
- To meet legal obligations, including tax and accounting records.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the parties needed to run the store:
- Shopify, which hosts this store and processes orders
- Payment processors, to take payment
- Carriers, to deliver your parcel
- Email and analytics providers, to send email you asked for and measure site usage
- Authorities, where we are legally required to
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for seven years, which is what tax law requires. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe, then suppressed so we do not email you again by mistake. Analytics data is retained for 26 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, port it elsewhere, restrict how we use it, or object to particular uses. If you are in California you can also ask us not to sell or share your personal information, which we already do not do. If you are in the EU or UK you may withdraw consent at any time and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email support@thesmallplot.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep your cart and session working and cannot be turned off. Analytics and marketing cookies are optional and set only where you have accepted them. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer, or clear cookies in your browser.
Children
This store is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and your information may be processed there. Where we transfer data out of the EEA or UK we rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes
We may update this policy. The revised version is posted on this page with a new date, and we give notice where the law requires it.
